"It is a good ingineering company to work for but it is an engineering outfit"

"The company has good management and any suggestions would be compangy confidential"

"My career advancement and growth opportunities are not easy to determine. No job / career mentoring."

"I strongly believe that employees who are interested in personal and professional development should be rewarded and assisted in their efforts."

"Sell yourself all the time!!! Make sure your education and experience outshine the competition."

"Very little support to find work. This applies to all levels of experience."

"Better work distribution would be best. There needs to be a new system that allows work to be shared between offices more freely."

"It was a good company to be associated with. I had wonderful co-workers and a good position. Would never have left there!"

"Be prepared to be in and back out. I was there 14 years and still had my position eliminated."

"The change of leadership of our group every two years. It made for a lot of confusion on roles and responsibilities."

"Nothing, really. It's a totally different company now than when I was there. Much unrest among the employees."

"The people I worked with in my departments were great. Hard work, chances to innovate."

"If you are not in management you will be screwed. If you don't like massive bureaucracies look elsewhere."

What don't you like about working at CH2MHILL?

"We had the worst manager in the corporation (by the data). They are run by lawyers, 4 manual that changes weekly. No one knows whats in in or gets a personal copy. You can be sure you're in violation when they want to dump you. Our project has the highest turnover in the company (7000 employees). They underbid they public employees and get contracts. You get paid 50% of scale."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Quit giving promotions to people because it's their turn and fire Yuen. I left a proposal to save the corporation 80 million dollars over 20 years. They fired me and gave it up because she was afraid to manage. That's a pretty big penalty to pay because a guy borrowed a tool over the weekend, just like she did all the time. They could have paid me ten years salary to finish the project, then go away, and pocketed 4 million cash per year. LOL"

"Great culture and people. Very open to varied schedules and accomodating of people who travel to see family."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They are currently in a long-term down cycle due to DOE funding cuts. Not a good prospect for the next 2-5 years. When things are going well CH2M Hill is very loyal to their people. The Hanford contract was an outlier and does not reflect on CH2M Hill at large."

What don't you like about working at CH2MHILL?

"Dependence on government contracts and ARRA funding. Huge layoffs. Poor communication of likely extent of reduction in force."

"Listen more to your people. Trust their experience and stop trying to control the message."

"I like the small group of people that I work with."

What don't you like about working at CH2MHILL?

"I feel very separated from the company because I work in a satellite office and never meet any other coworkers. In addition, while working for the joint venture I have been transferred from company to company 3 times. There is also no room for advancement at my furrent position. Also, CH2M Hill does not really work in any sectors that I am looking to advance in."

"They need to find a way to make people working on joint ventures outside of the main office like they are a valued part of the company."

"The culture is unique due to the employee ownership. Everyone helps each other be successful. You can call the top guys."

"Study the company values to see if we are a good match for you."

"We need to highlight the employee ownership more and relate to each other as fellow owners, associates or colleagues rather than employees."
