"Know your responsibilities and opportunities for job growth. Get a good feel for your direct manager to make sure you can work for him/her and get a good feel for the culture."

"The compensation is greatly based on how well the company or branch does during a certain year and not necessarily how the individual does. This leaves your salary undetermined until the final month of the year."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would promote growth and opportunity for learning as well as a more competitive base salary."

"It is demanding, but collaboration between teams leaves something to be desired."

"Be yourself. Robinson is a very unique company full of very capable and intelligent people. Don't get lost in our shortcomings, we have them, but are working past them."

"I am too often given too much freedom with not enough guidance."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would assure that the work our company was doing to innovate was being done with the input and expressed interest of everyday employees, not top-down initiatives."

"The experience I gained in dealing with difficult people and situations. Learning to be patient and ignore the overall negativity to get my job done. Those were basically the on things I took away from it, and I wouldn't say I liked it."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't. Honestly, unless you are just out of college and don't have a business degree but want to break into the business world in order to make more money than a teacher (although not by much) DO NOT BOTHER."

What don't you like about working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide?

"You literally can't make one move without having to consult 10 people, none of the offices work together, there is no 'TEAM'. The overall atmosphere is WAY too stressful for no reason."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Implement staggered schedules to allow for work/life balance for employees. Find away to allow employees to work from home. Increase pay. Set a cap on how much OT exempt AND non-exempt employees could work to avoid burn out. Hire a greater number of people in order to provide customers with better service and prevent such quick turn over. Diversify staff. I could go on and on."

"CH Robinson had a strong reputation within the industry. They were also leaders in the way 3PL's did business."

"CH Robinson generally promotes from within so most people will be starting out at an entry level job."

What don't you like about working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide?

"The biggest drawback to the position was that I was on call 24 hours per day"

"Make sure that you emphasize teamwork. Teamwork and friendly competition is what built the company"

"It was a dynamic, fast paced job with a lot of responisibilties."

"An interviewee should know that they will start at an entry level position. Also, they will need to have the ability to stnad up for one's self."

"I sat in my customer's office for 10-12 hours a day with little support from my company."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My advice is to not allow for onsite account management. It leaves the person feeling very isolated."

"CH Robinson had a strong reputation in the market place both in terms of the quality of product and the ability to solve problems"

"An interviewee should know that Robinson only hires entry level positions. It is possible to grow but you will need to bring your A game almost every day"

"CH Robinson had drifted away from a team atmosphere. The lack of team focus made the job less enjoyable."

"Management should look for ways to promote a team atmosphere."

"A new interviewee should expect and entry level position with matching pay. However after the first couple of years the job can be quite rewarding."

"The culture over the years had changed away from a teamwork approach"

"Management should have worked harder on instilling a team atmosphere once it started slipping."

"The age range, the relaxed dress code, and training seminars."

"For the love of all things holy, if you want to go somewhere in life, do not take this job."

What don't you like about working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide?

"Every second is micromanaged from what time I take lunch to what emails I read first. I am like a robot with orders being punched in. Working in a call center would be more fulfilling."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Communicate more with my employees, be more hands on, challenge the people working for me and encourage them to excel and try new and different roles. I would explain to people more thoroughly what the actual job was and give an accurate description as opposed to falsifying the experience thus resulting in high turnover. I would trust my employees to be capable of decision making on their own and adapt a more relaxed schedule allowing for a work life balance, noting that if people are given freedoms to a certain degree they are often times more willing to do things for you happily and with great effort and diligence. I would design the pay structure to be based on monthly bonuses as well as not have the gap between management and operations be quite SO large. I would also structure advantages for working overtime, such as free lunch, or even extra pay."

"There benefits and profit sharing plans are really good for a lrage company"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure you ask a lot of questions and don't beat around the bush. They will make it sound like your advancement is based off your skills and contributions, but its really all office politics"

What don't you like about working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide?

"Office hours, working Saturdays, the way people lay the guilt on you if you are away from your desk for a while, the pay, the career path (lack thereof)"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would treat employees better and constantly be looking for EMPLOYEE feedback on the culture and how to become a more progressive/happy workplace"
