Claremont Graduate University is a graduate study only institution offering master and doctoral degrees in 31 areas. Found in 1925 as Claremont University College, CGU is part of the Claremont College consortium. There are two institutes and ten schools within the university; the two institutes are the Peter Drucker Institute (management theory) and the Getty Leadership Institute (museum/non-profit leadership).

Claremont Graduate University, as part of the Claremont Colleges, is on 550 acres. The other schools in the consortium are Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Scripps and Pitzer (all undergraduate colleges) and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Science. Students at one of the schools have access to classes, libraries, and other facilities at the other schools.
