Celanese is a global chemical and specialty products manufacturer. Established in New York in 1918 by Camille Dreyfus, the company initially produced coatings and fibers from bulk chemicals at a single facility in Maryland. In 187, it was acquired by Hoescht and spun off in its current form in 1999.

Celanese maintains its headquarters in Dallas, Texas. In addition to acetyl intermediate chemicals such as acetic acid and vinyl acetate, it produces polymers, sweeteners, coatings, adhesives and fuels for a wide range of consumer and industrial applications. Its global locations span the U.S., Germany, China and India. In 2011, revenues topped $6.5 billion.
