"On top of the game in the power industry. If you like this industry, then this is the place for you. Prepare to work hard with intelligent people but also not to have any real relationships for your co workers"
"It was an overall wonderful experience working as an intern at CAISO. I had no knowledge of whatever I was going to do when I first joined in summer. However, my supervisor along with the other employees, gave me a good understanding of all the concepts of Operations Engineering. I also became proficient with tools like Visual Basics. I feel that the experience gave me a good background of the working of the power industry and I am all set to work as a full time employee with that experience."
"I have worked for CA-ISO as a contract Senior Project Manager since Oct 2013. The company business model is fascinating."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at California ISO?
"My particular department suffered from an excess of infantilism. Many of those oft-childish employees have since left CAISO, one way or another. CAISO as a whole was consumed by completing the MRTU project and was flailing to find a true mission for its existence. It was caught between actually being a not-for-profit yet trying to operate more as a for-profit entity."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Complete MRTU and move on. Settle on your CAISO mission statement and execute to it. Stop the endless reorganizations. Try a little more transparency about your motives and treat employees as the adults that they are. Try to anticipate the future for electricity within CA and the USA!"
"Run from any opportunity offered to you."
