"Brooklyn Industries lacks organization and leadership. My lead was barely in the office and barely responded to emails. Office moral was low due to cramped working conditions, low wages, and lack of resources. Unable to keep talented employees for more than a year. Major turnover. The retail portion is great for a quick buck and a discount to generic Sunday wear, but don't work at Brooklyn Industries to get insight in the fashion world or training."
"This comany was very aggressive with their growth potential, but needed work in retaining talent."
What do you like about working at Brooklyn Industries?
"As a Store Manager, I had a say in product selection and the implementation of new policies. There was a lot of open dialogue with the senior people in the company and a great open door policy."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"I felt that my interview was more of a recruitment than an interview. I would have more questions ready for them so that I would've had a better feel of the corporate set-up and what they expected day to day, rather than have been pulled in by the vision."
What don't you like about working at Brooklyn Industries?
"I sometimes felt that the company had a number of stores that they wanted to open within a certain amount of time, which was quite aggressive. During my time there, they wanted to open something like 30 stores in the next 5 years. The people who started the company were artists and had very little experience in hiring staff and when a company has such an aggressive growth plan they should have people with better retail experience running the day to day business operations."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Keep going for the growth! They are definitely pushing for their name to be all over the place. I am not really sure of whether or not they have implemented a CEO or a VP of business, but I would strongly suggest for them to have one and for the owners of the company to pursue the brand image and creative part of the business."
