"They way they based their hours on sales. If at the end of the week your sales were not good, they would pull your hours away."

"Don't pull hours from the store at the end of the week. You should be able to use the hours as you see fit."

"Books A Million is the only company I have ever worked for that actually expects and utilizes input of employees from the ground level and up. The atmosphere in the stores are great. It is also a wonderful way to meet authors and fellow book lovers."

"Make sure you be yourself and show lots of interest in advancement."
What don't you like about working at Books-A-Million?
"The salaries are not comparable to other retail establishments. The management at the mid-level (District Managers) do not seem to understand the concept of balancing work and personal life."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"They need to understand that allowing their employees time for their personal lives (not unreasonably) creates caring and loyal employees."
