Working at Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape in San Jose, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape Employee

"Pros: Supportive Team Members / Peers – The best part of my time at Black Diamond was working with an amazing team of colleagues and peers. Everyone was supportive and willing to assist. Cons: High Turnover – During my five-month employment, I kept noticing the high amount of departures (could have been at least 15 total, but I’m not quite sure). I felt most were due to resignations of internal office team members. For a company with an average of 100 employees, this speaks volumes. Lack of Ownership Support (Overpromised, Under-Delivered) – Most of my processes were handled manually and disjointed from one another, which resulted in more time being spent working on tedious tasks. I spent countless hours per day cleaning up on tasks that were unfinished or incorrectly executed with limited resources. From my observations, the amount of overtime worked was not unusual for most roles at this company. There were multiple discussions where Ownership assured more robust software would be implemented, but continued to go back-and-forth with little traction. Lack of Trust from Ownership – I felt there was a lack of trust from Ownership, specifically regarding taking time off. Ownership would encourage in meetings that employees should take time off and relax to avoid burnout. However, when employees actually take time off due to illness or need of personal time, they would complain to me about how no one should take time off. Ownership would speak negatively about the employee, questioning if they are really sick and how they might not be fit for their role if they cannot be relied upon to come into work. That discouraged me from taking time off as I felt I might be subjected to backlash. Lack of Professionalism & Respect from Ownership – During my employment, I would overhear chatter/gossips about Ownership’s negative temperament, tone, and management style. Employees mentioned feeling harassed and verbally berated numerous times."
