Bendix Careers & Info

Bendix Overview

Bendix Corporation was founded in 1924 by Vincent Bendix when he gave Eclipse Machine Company the right to use a drive part invention that he had created. The company developed this invention into a triple thread screw that ultimately led to the development of various drive parts. Later that year, General Motors purchased a 24 percent interest in the company so that it could maintain contact with these engineering developments. Bendix Corporation also acquired Bragg-Kliesrath, a braking company in the last 1920s.

Over the years, Bendix Corporation was responsible for innovating and manufacturing the first computerized anti-lock braking system as well as the basic fuel injection system, which has since been remodeled and further innovated. The company also designed ancillary equipment for aircraft used in World War II. Bendix was acquired by Allied Corporation in 1983, and the company purchased Honeywell in later years. Currently, the Bendix products are sold in conjunction with the Honeywell International, Inc. line.
