"My peers & co-workers on the sales floor. The ones doing the real work."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If your going in to HW sales it takes about a year to ramp up. Training is non existent so have some type of knowledge of the industry and IBM server line."
What don't you like about working at Avnet?
"The sales management staff is a joke. Forecasting is a fabrication to appease the executive staff. Excellent, hardworking salespeople have been laid off causing more work while nobody from management was let go."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Don't just spew the Core Values to make yourself sound like a company man, really put them to use. The faux sadness every time we have a layoff is getting tired and EVERYONE in the building sees thru it all."

"Co-workers for the most part. Typical of most organizations. Above average personal development tools."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Watch your back. The Avnet name does not carry as much weight as management thinks it does. Competitors are very successful against Avnet. Avnet is very higher price-focused. Customers are not willing to pay for extra perceived value. They expect it as part of the business agreement."
What don't you like about working at Avnet?
"Very poor sales management. Reviews contradicted actions. Very political. Complaints were dealt with in a guilty until proven innocent methodology. Disfunctional sales processes and poor decision making (refusing lower margin deals)."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Allow account managers to make final decisions on revenue opportunities. Realize that margins are eroding and value is a challenge, not something with a cost benefit in the present marketplace. Very few will pay extra for pereceived value. Mentoring is selective and too political."
What do you like about working at Avnet?
"I enjoyed the challenges of learning a new technoloygy, becuse I was not real knowledgeable when I started selling the IBM servers. I also enjoyed the pressures of hitting multiple number in a quarter."

"I did not like being inside sells. I am more of a outside sells rep."
