"I worked for the company for a few years, and over time the environment and morale just constantly got worse. We were allowed to telecommute 3 days a week, which was fantastic, but that was ultimately taken away from use and replaced with low satisfaction and everything based on how many work items we complete in a day. We were penalized for being 1 minute late or leaving 1 minute early, causing several top performers to be terminated. Managers and VP of Cust Ops did not show any compassion."

"A Waste of Great Potential"

What do you like about working at AutoTrader.com?

"During my tenure at Autotrader.com, the company had very stable performance and seemed to be poised for potentially enormous growth. All forecast and projections were very positive and the company's future seemed to be well assured. During the time I worked for the company, new positions were being creative at an very nice rate, when other companies were making cutbacks, so job security was not much of a concern. The offices were nice and well maintained and the company gave adequate attention to ergonomics so that employees were comfortable while working. Equipment like computers, monitors and phones were modern and well maintained. From a physical perspective, the environment was very nice."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are thinking of working for this organization, make sure that you are either a golden boy favorite of someone who works there, or be extremely good at cozying up to upper management. You talent alone will get you nowhere."

What don't you like about working at AutoTrader.com?

"Autotrader is yet another organization that doesn't care enough about it's employees needs for growth and development - unless you are one of the chosen favorites of a manager of supervisor or VP. Or if you are a part of the good 'ole boys club.Increasingly it seems that effort, talent, performance, knowledge and doing the right thing will get you nowhere - unless you are in one of the aforementioned groups. The organization suffered from an extreme lack of decent leadership (managers who had little understanding of job responsibilities and challenges of their direct reports) who were more concerned with their own careers that with improving processes or doing an actual leading. During my last year there, I worked for a complete narcissist who unfortunately had risen well above her level of incompetence. Previous managers were only slightly better."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think that the leadership of this organization needs serious review. The organization needs to refocus on the great talent that is within the organization and lose the losers."
