Associate Attorney at Pite Duncan
in San Diego, CA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Proud survivor. Hellish environment, but some good legal experience."

What do you like about working at Pite Duncan?

"Startup law firm riding out the foreclosure wave. Horrifically bad management. Very little support. The office is so negative and tense it is palpable. Got some good work experience, was it worth the hellish conditions Maybe, maybe not. All I know is the management is fully aware everyone is miserable and they just don't care."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Not really. Interview is usually a two step process. They do most of the talking so it's pretty easy if you make it to an actual interview."

What don't you like about working at Pite Duncan?

"People get fired a lot - like weekly - for the most absurd reasons. It breeds an environment of fear. Also hated the absurdly extreme micromanaging and complete lack of transparency, honesty or integrity from the management."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Respect your employees. Take a look at the people who are in the office everday and create the miserable environment."

Associate Attorney at Airan Pace Law
in Miami, FL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Thankless"

What do you like about working at Airan Pace Law?

"I got a job when I really needed one, but I did not like much, other than the employees-very nice people work there, even the attorneys. People worked very hard but were never really rewarded for it. I supposed the best thing is that nobody really bothered me, and the working environment (with the employees and attorneys) was very nice."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Not really. It's pretty easy to get a job there. They are always hiring because someone is always leaving when they realize how much better things are at other law firms."

What don't you like about working at Airan Pace Law?

"No real appreciation for employees, in terms of benefits. All employees are underpaid (even attorneys). The only benefit is that the firm pays for half of an employee's health insurance, but it was so expensive, I don't think anybody ever got insurance through the firm! Probation lasts six months, not 3 months like eveyother place I ever worked. There is no 401(k) or any kind of retirement benefits. Holidays are less than at other firms (for example, the office does not close for Memorial day, and they expect you to work on Friday after Thanksgiving). You get ten days of vacation every year, regardless of if you work there one year or ten years. No bonuses (not even for their attorneys). It's basically a firm where the partners don't really seem to care about the employees much or rewarding them for hard work. But weird, because otherwise they are very nice people, if that makes any sense. Even when their employees leave (this place is definitely a revolving door), they never seem to ask themselves how to make things better so they keep their employees. So employees just keep leaving."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"In general, they should do some research about how other firms operate, and improve the quality of the work experience for the employess. Take a course in how to manage a law firm properly and maybe some kind of sensitivity training. Like I heard from someone who still works there that when employees were at home waiting for Hurricane Isaac to hit, one of the partners sent out a text message to all the employees basically saying that the office will be open, and if you don't show up, it will count against your vacation time -- things like that make employees feel unappreciated."

Associate Attorney at Wade Clark Mulcahy
in Mountainside, NJ

What do you like about working at Wade Clark Mulcahy?

"The partner and staff I work with are helpful and usually very considerate."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The attorneys are practicing litigators. You won't be asked what vegetable you are, but you might be asked something about substantive law on the interview. Be prepared."

What don't you like about working at Wade Clark Mulcahy?

"Work-life balance. For the number of hours I'm asked to work, I could be working at a much larger firm with a higher payscale."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Find a way to ask attorneys to bill fewer hours, or offer a part-time structure for some attorneys. I have seen a few people leave because their work-life balance was non-existent. This is a problem for attorneys who want to have time with family (children, aging parents) outside the office. We are asked to bill almost as many hours as attorneys at large firms, but we aren't paid like attorneys from large firms."
