"I'm not sure why people feel compelled to post something negative about A&P and its employees. I'm guessing they just weren't a good fit. I have worked at A&P for over 20 years and still have nothing but good things to say about our company. I am not related to anyone nor did I go to school with any of Pam's (COO) kids. However, I work very closely with all of the employees referred to in previous posts and agree 100% with the positions they have been awarded. These individuals are smart, hard working, motivated and dedicated people. I believe the current structure of our company is what we need to get us through these troublesome times. I guess I'm one of the "Middle Age Karen's" to whom the post is referring. However, I am very happy with my life so I take offense to that comment. I am very fortunate in that I do not have to work, I choose to work and I choose A&P. I'm posting this because I feel that our company or people don't get the credit they deserve and we here at A&P wish the one who are no longer with us the best of luck in the future."
"Unfortunately, this site seems to be visited only by employees who have been fired, so the reviews are skewed. A&P is a wonderful place to work evidenced by the tenure of its employees - 12 year average with many at 20+ years. The owner and COO have worked tirelessly to make A&P a happy, satisfying place to work and to keep A&P at the forefront of composite material technology. Employees are given the freedom to explore different areas within the company to find the right fit and everyone is allowed input as to suggestions for continuous improvement. I cannot imagine not being happy here - A&P is full of smart, creative hard workers."
"The reviews on here are half right. While this company is def sketchy and has all the aspects of a small business, while being relatively large, it’s not the worst place to work for if you can keep your head down and just do your job.... but even if you do that too much, it may rub someone the wrong way. Leadership here: it’s very hit or miss. There’s maybe 2-3 supervisors here that are worth anything, the rest are just close to Pam(president) or went to school with her kids. All of which are incompetent. This place is the very definition of nepotism. Middle aged Karens: this place is filled with em. Bunch of middle aged women who are just miserable with their lives so they set out to make yours miserable as well, and worse yet, because they’re tattle tales and complain about anything they can, management tolerates it and even welcomes it to make up for their own incompetency. Worried about getting fired weekly: yep, you hear stories of why people were fired and think to yourself “surely there has to be more to the story” and worse yet, you can and will be fired if the wrong few people dislike you (the “chosen” Managers, who were ***shitty*** workers, but now have to make up for it because they’re management) Very very VERY low morale: mostly due to all the above, but also gossip, lack of any kind of leadership whatsoever, etc Onto the good Compensation: you get paid well for what you do(unfortunately dealing with the Game of Thrones type atmosphere barely makes it worth it) Owner: he’s a badass and seems like a genuinely good dude, but seems too far removed from the culture at this point. Overall I think a 2.5 is a good rating. Take the warnings from the reviews seriously because they are dead on. This is a cut throat company that does not care about their employees like most companies do. So do not rely on this company long term and for financial security... see it as a means to an end. You WILL be fired from here. Period."
"I have been in this industry for over 22 years. I have worked for similar companies in my past. This company is the worst company I have ever worked for. The way the owner runs the company is not in a way that shows that he values the employees and that trickles down to his management staff. They get rid of people who do great work just to keep a revolving door open. They feel if they keep the same people the company will become idle and not grow, so by bringing new people in there, new ideas will come. How does this show that they appreciate their employees. I have seen some really good people get let go just because of this reason. If you have family that works there you will have a job for life. Nepotism is really bad there, actually the worst I have ever seen in all my years in the industry. The medical insurance is absolutely terrible. They think it is good or at least tell the work force it is good but $1000/month for medical insurance that most employers have their employees only pay out around $300/month is not showing appreciation. Especially for how much they brag about how much money the company makes. They put very young inexperienced friends into management positions who have no experience and have favorites. If you are looking for a great company that appreciates their employees and treats you the right way then look elsewhere. Their moto there is "Our culture is different here". It is not a culture that most people who have worked for a good employer would say is good. If you are looking for long term employment, look some where else. I am trying to help as many people I can from being blindsided from this company. Beware of the other reviews that say this is a good company to work for. That is management trying to recover from all the bad reviews on here. They know it is a problem because of the high turnover. Hope this helps anyone out there who is looking for a good company to work for."
"I have worked for this company for over 15 years. I have seen management here treat employees terrible time and time again. I am one of the few who have no family members that work here. I am only here because I am good friends with other people in management. Management here gets rid of people for no reason at all. They make you sign an "At Will" agreement every year to remind you that your job here is not secure. I have seen them get rid of GREAT employees time and time again. Other people in management are trying to save the company reputation by putting 5 star reviews on here but those are complete lies. I am only writing this review to warn people because there are good people out there that need good secure jobs and this company will let you down. I don't agree with much of what they do but, continue to work here until I find another job. If you are a single mother you do not want this insurance either. You have to pay close to $1000/month for a PPO insurance which isn't very good either. The deductibles are extremely high as well. If you have family that works here then you will be safe. If you don't then you will probably will be let go within a couple of years. Look for a good company that will value you and your family."
"I have worked at A&P for a number of years and wouldn’t want it any other way. Here at A&P, we recognize that its employees are the crucial ingredient to the quality and continuing success of our products and overall business. Their commitment to the support and development of their employees is unmatched, both personally and professionally. Being here is part of being a family. We are constantly challenged, supported, and inspired to constantly grow. I love being a part of A&P and recommend it to anyone that wants to work with a great company."
"I have worked here for six years. This is a great company if you are a hard-working, dedicated kind of employee--go figure. I have read the other reviews about A&P Technology and I have to say that is not the A&P I work at. Imagine working for a company that supplies free healthy snacks, Chiropractic, meditation and several company-wide parties (Christmas, Spring, Thanksgiving and other) every year. The owner has an open-door policy. He is here every day, usually before everyone else, and leaves after most are gone. He is smart, fair and generous. There are many instances of related employees here. In my mind, this says more about the culture and "stability" of the company. Why would you want a relative working at a bad company? Each year the company recognizes employees who have been here for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35+ years. There are usually dozens in these categories. I hope to be one of these employees. I don't concern myself with office politics or drama. I love my job and love what I do! A&P Technology continues to allow me to follow my passion for what I do."
"GREAT company to work for! I've been with the company for going on 4 years, and I have to say its the best place I have ever worked. I plan to retire from here! I have worked various other jobs and this is by far the best job I've ever had! Really great people to work for and with! I have never felt more accepted and part of a family than I do at A&P. The company really cares for its employees and tries to do anything it can to help maintain a work-life balance. It's very accommodating to its employees' needs and always willing to listen to any ideas to make work an overall better experience. The wages are very fair as well! Overall, it's an absolutely great company to work for! It all starts at the top with the CEO of A&P, who really strives to make A&P a great company to be part of!! I would 110% recommend it to someone looking for an AWESOME opportunity to work for an AWESOME company! #BETTERWITHBRAID"
"I couldn't be happier at A&P. The atmosphere is fun, challenging, supportive and exciting. We are growing so quickly and are given the opportunity to 'wear many hats'. Everyone's input is valued and the interchange between engineering, production, and sales allows us to be extremely responsive to our customers, which is why A&P is so valued in the industry."
"This is the WORST company I have ever worked for in my 30 years in the industry. It is very unfortunate, but if you do not have family that works there then you probably will not last very long. They have had a number of lawsuits due to unfair employee treatment. They have even settled outside of court. The insurance and benefits are the worst I have ever had. There is no room for moving up into the company. They have the select people they have chosen for management positions and they are typically family members. They thrive on hiring young people since they don't know any better. You will have to sign all sort of documents so they can terminate you at any time with no questions asked. I have seen countless great, hard-working friends of mine being let go all because they either did not care for them or they were not associated with any family members or they wanted someone slightly younger in that position. Please be careful working at this employer. This job is for someone who is looking for a short term position."
"I was there for close to 25 years. This company at one point really appreciated me but as new management came in, I was looked at as insufficient. It is really sad that they treat employees like this. I am not the only one. I would stay away from this employer at all costs."
"I have been working at A&P Technology now for 7 years. Even though I still work here, the company is very deceiving. It claims that the culture is different, and it is. But most of the time it is just an excuse for the company to be able to manipulate employees to have them do what it wants done. You do not have a voice here and your opinions don't mean much. There are only a few people here that are valued and if you are not in that group don't expect to get much done. Most every idea is shot down if you are not in that group. Especially if you are not family. If you are looking for a place to grow and learn and especially move up in a company then look elsewhere. They do not promote here and there is no room for advancement at all. They do not utilize the strengths of the employees but instead exploit their weaknesses as a way to get rid of employees. Management is unwilling to work with you and support you unless you are liked. BE CAREFUL if you are needing work and are desperate because you probably won't last here long anyway. Too many people I know who were excellent at their jobs were let go because they were a threat to management."
"One of the worst companies I have ever worked for. I am still employed there but am currently looking for another job. You are never valued and are only valued if you are related to a family member there. This company is a perfect example of what NEPOTISM is. The office and floor jobs are a revolving door to the ones who have no connection with anyone. Management is absolutely one of the worst I have seen. I have been here 9 years and actually have relatives that work here and the people that are placed in these high positions don't have a clue on how to manage those roles, but because they are related to certain individuals, they get those spots. They will tell you one thing but are really thinking another. You have to walk on egg shells to make sure your not going to get fired sooner than it is supposed to happen. Because it will happen at some point. Don't try and get to close to anyone because they probably won't be there very long. The people that have been there for any length of time are people who came from the original company, Atkins and Pearce. They like to hire younger people who don't have a clue on how a business is supposed to be ran. That way they won't know any better. If you are looking for employment with good benefits, this is not the place. The insurance is the worst I have ever seen. And if you are looking to move up in a company because they do value you, this is not the place. You cannot move up in this company at all. They don't operate like that. As they would say, "It's they way our culture is". Stay away from this employer."
"I have been with A & P for several years now and have been nothing short of happy. I enjoy my job itself and the people that come with it. I couldn’t possibly choose a better environment to surround myself with. The job itself is nothing. If you can come in, do your job, work hard, and stay positive, it’s the right job for you! If you can roll out of bed and look forward to going to work, then someone is doing their job right! I would recommend this company to anyone in search of an employment, or heck, anyone in search of some good quality braid. After all we are the best!"
"Four types of people do well at A&P technology: friends, family, the obsequious, and the apathetic. If you are not one of these four, it isn't for you. The culture at A&P is an adolescent dream of "coolest company ever", but gone horribly wrong. It is a cult of personality tied to the original cadre, executing that adolescent dream without regard to the supporting workforce. The business' success rests on the backs of a few supremely talented people and the revenue of a couple of old long-term contracts. This enables the existence of the friends, family, obsequious, and apathetic in the organization's parasitic fat. If your thing is suckling off the teet of others, while only contributing fawning commentary and sycophantic allegiance, sign up right now. It will be your dream come true. And I am dead serious.... hone your "Emperors New Clothes" skills to keep you in the good graces, you are basically handed a paycheck for showing up. And you barely need to do that.... An already shortened workweek (maybe 25hr at the office) is consumed mostly with horsing around, drinking beers, and listening to people laugh hysterically at unfunny jokes. It's a wonderland for the fraction of people who can sleep at night while offering up so little. Other benefits include: plenty of time for paid exercise in the on-site gym, access to a Rolfing masseuse, the customer entertainment/drinks budget is essentially unlimited, and you will end up with several dozen monogrammed shirts. You will also acquire new skills, like hiding your intense boredom while listening to the same customer trip story 1997 for the 10th time, and mastering your gag reflex when being told that the cronies actually earned their positions. Finally, you will acquire a huge library of "this is so f'ed up it can't be real" stories..... priceless."
