"It will all depend on who is interviewing you and for what position. Just know your stuff."
What don't you like about working at Amgen?
"Some of the managers I've worked with there are so secure in their positions from having worked there for so many years they've pulled up their drawbridge and retreated into their offices, where they sit counting their 401-K, and don't care about or have much sympathy for the people under them who are trying to move up."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Come out of your shell. Try to remember what it was like when you were moving up and worked hands-on."

"I hated Amgen Rhode Island. Quitting was hard because they pay well, but it was the best decision of my life."

"Stay away from the Rhode Island site... management is dysfunctional, and people step on each other to get ahead. It doesn't seem to be this way at the other Amgen sites... only Rhode Island."
What don't you like about working at Amgen?
"Promotions were not based on technical skill, rather, the ability to 'suck up' to upper management... and not many of the upper managers were that competent compared to the lower level engineers."

"Stop promoting your friends."
"Contract/Temporary assignment as Administrative Coordinator to Project and Contract Services department. Worked under the direction of Manager, Tom Mendel. He and his team were excellent to work with. I enjoyed working at Amgen and look forward to future opportunities there."

"It's a really terrific place to work. I hope I get the opportunity again in the near future."
What don't you like about working at Amgen?
"I have very strong administrative and interpersonal skills and was very proficient in an Administrative Coordinator role at Amgen. I did interview for a few full-time permanent positions while there, but I believe they always hired from within the company; I wish that good, skilled candidates who are temporary staff had a little better chance to get in with this great company."
