"Like being micro-managed You will love this company."

What do you like about working at American National Insurance?

"The only positive about working for ANICO was living on the island."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't interview with this company. I would not recommend working for American National Insurance Company in the IT department, especially in the Cyberlife development area."

What don't you like about working at American National Insurance?

"The Information Technology department has serious problems that are overlooked on a daily basis. On-call responsibilities are limited to correcting data and never allowed to determine root cause analysis if problems resulting in nightly abends that occur daily. The change management of the software is non-existent, there are modules in test that have no documentation for the changes made and have been in the testing environment for over six months. This job is a professionals nightmare, the micro-management of the people by the so-called project managers results in a work environment only a blind, deaf, head down coder could tolerate. Please do not bring any opinions of how to improve the process with you to this job, it will not be welcomed. If I heard the term This is the way we do things here one more time I would have jumped out of the window. There is no room for growth or advancement. Multiple test environments are impossible to create a regression test that would provide acceptable results due to the many undocumented changes in modules that are in test and not in production."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have a professional IT audit firm come in and make recommendations to allow your organization to progress into a managable change management environment. Fire any manager who believes that changes would be a mistake or who would argue that what is in place works. This department needs a complete transformation starting at the top."
