What do you like about working at Alltel?

"As a recent college graduate, Alltel gave me the opportunity to start a new section of my life. The money that I made there was considerably more than the friends that I graduated with. The benefits offered were also exceptional. Also, you become fully vested after only three months of employment which is a huge bonus when setting aside money in your 401K. So far this is the best company I have ever worked for and would still be working there if it weren't for the merger."

What don't you like about working at Alltel?

"I can honestly say that there is nothing negative about working for Alltel."

"Windstream had an upper management that was living in the past and not in tune with the changing markets in the telemarketing industry"

"Get with the times and listen to the customers"

"Good about not locking down network unneecessarily (no crazy firewall settings)"

"Don't go in thinking this is a career - it's not."

What don't you like about working at Alltel?

"No employee/employer loyalty. Everyone only a billable hour. Layoffs are a monthly concern throughout the compant."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep your good people by paying them well and NOT making them a defacto contractor. Benefits were great, but the job insecurity made it not worth it!"

"I loved working for ALLTEL...but at the first of this year Verizon Wireless bought ALLTEL and laid people off."

"I worked from home as a remote office and I was able to get lots of things done without distractions from a typical office environment. I also liked the variety of my work."

"I hated that ALLTEL was purchased by another wireless company which ended up disposing of ALLTEL's original employees."

"Don't limit the employee to just one area of skills."

"Not much... I was only there for 8 months before I took another position"

"It was like going back to high school. The only way anyone could advance was to be buddies w/ the right people. It was very cliqish"

"None since Alltel is now Verizon Wireless."

"Cutthroat management. Very ruthless with employees."

"Think twice about changing shifts every 6 months. How customer focused the company Do you require sales in addition to customer support"

"not enough focus on solving the customers issues."

"loosen the requirements for calls per hour requirement with non experienced customers. Teach them. Not berate them."

"Get to know the company and what their goals are and dress professional."

"commission structure, some of the managers were not very good at managing others."

"connect with your employees. Understand there has to be a professional work place attitude, but get to know those people you work for better. People are willing to go above and beyond their duties if they like who they are working for."

"That was years ago. It certainly wouldnt hurt in an interviewing situation ask questions that would offer insight to the flexiblability of a company when it comes to family matters. Or any matter that would affect the employees ability to perform at 100 percent.t"

"The demands of the position was not agreeable with my life style of a single parent of young children."

"If an employer acknowledges the value of a good employee, that employee would be give an opportunity to move into another position that would accommodate the needs of the business and the employee.. even if the position required some training."
