"No community feel here. My experience was that it's an antiquated culture which felt like in order to be a high-performance organization the culture has to be stiff, judgmental, and ruthless. No room for authenticity, fun, or forgiveness. It's a massive multi-player game in which employees compete for the prize of promotion. Unfortunately, promotion does not necessarily correlate to the promoteds’ leadership skills or technical knowledge but rather in my opinion those who have been successful in ducking tough decisions, deflecting blame, and undermining rivals. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that wisdom correlates with rank."

"I have been with Alliant Energy for a number of years and have gradually witnessed the decline of the company. What started out as a tremendous place to make a career now has become a place of every man for itself. The thought process of having house cleanings in their non bargaining sector every so many years is ridiculous. This has become so evident that even our outside vendors make comments about it. If you want a place that you can start entry level and work your way through the ranks and have security doing so, this is not it! I have witnessed a lot of good employees escorted off the property for no good reason other than every so many years they have to prove to the Iowa Utility Board they are trying to reduce costs in order to get the rate increases they desire from the customers. It is also shameful that a public utility can pay what it does to its senior management and above all on the backs of the customers. I will be leaving this company as soon as I find a position with a better company that actually cares about its employees and the overall morale. Would not recommend Alliant Energy as a long term place of employment."
