26 Territory Managers from Allergan submitted salaries.
Current CEO: Brenton L. Saunders
Status: Active
Allergan, Inc. is a $4.8 billion global health care company that specializes in developing new pharmaceuticals, as well as other health-care specialties, such as eye care, neurosciences, dermatology, urology, obesity intervention, and breast aesthetics.
The company was founded by Gavin S. Herbert, who owned a chain of drugstores in Los Angeles. He and his friend Stanley Bly developed anti-allergy nose drops which they named ALLERGAN® Nasal Drops. They reformulated the product to treat allergic conjunctivitis. In 1950, Mr. Herbert established Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to pursue additional therapies that he would develop with his friend. Mr. Herbert's son, Gavin S. Herbert, Jr., was a student at the University of California at the time and served as the salesman for his father's new company. The company had a rocky start due to the death of Mr. Bly, a car accident involving Mr. Herbert, and the drafting of Gavin S. Herbert, Jr. into the navy during the Korean war but continued to develop slowly. It became a publicly traded company in 1970. It was acquired by Smith Kline in 1980 and became a stand-alone company again in 1989. Since then, it has completed several acquisitions.
Besides the eye drops and nasal drops previously mentioned, the company also manufactures Botox and the Lapband. It manufactures products for cataracts, glaucoma, acne, and psoriasis. It developed Latisse, a treatment for hypotrichosis of eyelashes in 2008. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California. It has approximately 10,000 employees but has locations in more than 100 countries such as Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Dubai, India, Poland, Sweden, Russia and Vietnam.
