"It's an insurance company that bought out Transamerica in USA. In India it was a startup company. For me it was a dream come true to work in a startup where I was among the first 30 employees and was instrumental in setting up the investment department."

"It was nice to meet lots of people (clients) and the flexible schedule. You could work as much or as little as you want."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Ask for specific details about their compensation, lapses, etc. Keep digging when they answer back. They will say the compensation is complicated to explain and it is. But it is important to know beforehand. Ask about the chargebacks and laspes and monthly bonuses because it is important to know this works BEFORE accepting the job."
What don't you like about working at Aegon?
"It's not the best life insurance company around. They are relatively unknown company, no ads on tv or magazines that I ever saw. Their premiums are not competitive with other companies. The job during the interview sounded better than it really was and some details left out. In general, it's very hard to get ahead there. If you are an exceptional salesperson, then you might make it, but if you are not, then iyou will probably not make it once they pull the rug out from under you. Like most sales jobs, the turnover rate is high."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be totally upfront about the negatives that come with this job. If people know exactly what they are getting into, they will last longer there even though less people will accept the position."

"I liked the people very much and I though the company treated people well for the most part."

"I was not able to find much opportunity within the organization with my background."
