Skill Sets: Admissions advisors should have strong verbal and people skills. In general, they should have good administrative skills and be proficient in office computing programs. Advisors should have extensive knowledge on school policies, school programs and the admissions process.
Education: Education requirements vary, but a high school degree or equivalent is the required minimum. Courses in computing, office software and business administration would be helpful.
Career Path: Many admissions counselors have attended the university they work for. They may have interned or worked in the admissions office while taking undergraduate courses.
