"This position is one that requires responsibility and problem solving, which keeps the mind fresh and makes the time fly by. I enjoy that I am actually needed--I must be there or there will be problems getting things done correctly and efficiently. This is the first job I've ever had where I've felt that I was actually of high value and worth to my employer because of what my position entails, instead of just my work ethic and abilities."

"It's an excellent company for advancement if you're a scientist, researcher or from an Ivy League school."

"If you are not from an Ivy League school, have an education in science or research, your growth potential is very limited."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"To open up to employees who show exceptional aptitude and give them more opportunities for advancement. Do not pigeon hole those who started with the company in a Union position. I was not informed at the time of hire that the position was a Union position nor that it would be hard to break into a salaried position. This information came straight from managers at Merck."
