Accor is an international hotel operator based in Paris, France. The company manages 3,500 hotels in 92 countries, including United Kingdom, China, Dominican Republic, Australia, Brazil and dozens of other countries on every continent except Antarctica. Its hotel brands include Sofitel, Novotel, Adagio, ibis and MGallery.
The company was created in 1967 by Gérard Pélisson and Paul Dubrule as SIEH hotel group. SIEH's first property was an American-styled Novotel property in Lille, France. It created the Ibis hotel line in 1974 and followed it with the acquisition of many hotel companies and an international restaurant voucher company. As a result of its growth and diversification, the company name changed to Accor in 1983.
