"Friendly and collegial environment on the surface, but behind the scenes it is a stressful, bureaucratic mess. The research team is little but window dressing for the marketing and sales apparatus that is trying to take control of the company. As a researcher, you won't do much beyond incremental research and tiny software tweaks to the existing models. Data infrastructure is outdated and unpleasant to work with.Pros: after proving you can do a good job, you can easily cut the workday down to 5 or 6 hours, leave early often, or take long lunch breaks, and no one will bother you.Cons: you can't learn anything new, innovate, or get your ideas in front of senior managers. If you care about quality, you will get burnt out and resentful. It's so bad, in fact, that it makes the relaxed work setting and the mediocre pay feel worthless and uninteresting. Smart, independent thinkers will quickly find themselves fantasizing about how to quit the job."
