"DO NOT WORK HERE! SAVE YOURSELF THE MENTAL TRAUMA! Externally it may appear that AAHOA is a great place to be employed, but internally it is nothing short of a horror story. Lawsuits plague AAHOA and the actions of the AAHOA Executive Leadership Team. Racism, discrimination, hostile work environment are what I experienced during my time at the association and ties to why they struggle to retain their staff. The lawyers that AAHOA retains even had to pay a former employee off because she was being sexually assaulted by her AAHOA boss. AAHOA executives like to tell their staff that they do nothing wrong, but the cases against them and their details are so easy to find. Human Resources on record victim blamed an employee that came to her about being sexually assaulted & person continues to be in her HR role which is horrible in my opinion. Four individuals have been in the role of CEO over the last five years and 40+ individuals have removed themselves from employment of the association in some capacity in the last four years alone which speaks volumes. You will be overworked, expected to wear “many hats”, and will be paid a fraction of what other reputable associations and companies are willing to pay you for your talents. After being accused of being racist AAHOA went on a hiring spree and magically only black women were hired to be part of the leadership team lol. The company has so many shady and illegal practices when it comes to finances and what has been done is the dark I’m sure will come to light. The men that make up the AAHOA Atlanta team especially the one at the top are misogynistic and racist at best, in my experience. The company is not worth anyones mental health. It is a terrible place for anyone to work. If you are a complicit blonde woman, Uncle Tom-esq black woman, or just a white male you will thrive…from my experience. Toxic & hostile work environment is AAHOA. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN AAHOA!"

"This is a terrible company to work for. A combination of the micromanagement, belittling from leadership team and board members, and a hostile work environment has caused so many to quit. There is a constant fear of being fired by the Operations person because she is very cutthroat and will make your life hard if you are not one of her favorite employees. Many complaints have been filed to Human Resources on the workplace bully, but they will tell you that they’ll be happy to write you a letter of recommendation for another job since there’s nothing that they can do about the complaints against the COO. You will have the best coworkers since we’re are all overworked and underpaid and bond over that."

"I worked at AAHOA for over 3 years. Association is run by the board of directors. Hard to grow if there is no room for growth or budget. A lot of demand and stress with the position."
