What do you like about working at Schwan's?

"I do not currently work at Schwans Fine Food."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"I enjoyed having a job that gave me the opportunity to be interpersonally in contact with hundreds of people by servicing them at their home with the finest food available. I became like a special type of friend to them, that they could depend on for receiving something they needed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest that management would give me the opportunity to join its team and reap the benefits of having a passionate, dedicated, and determined individual achieving the goals and objectives of the organization for many years to come."

What do you like about working at Schwan's?

"I liked the comadarie we had at Schwans. If you did not know the answer to something somebody was always there to help."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"What I didn't like about Schwans is all the free food they gave us. We were a able to have all the free ice cream and milk we wanted."

"I don't have any suggestions for management. I worked with very educated individuals who strived for perfection."

"The legal department was a strong team for all the companies that Schwans owned. I got to work with all the companies."

"A great place to work. Show them you care and that you can make a different."

"Nothing"

"Allow a schedule that provides for family time."

"In the beginning, the challenges of developing an under performing facility and work force"

"Be careful of what you are promised and if possible, get it in writing and hope they will fulfill the promises made during the interview and after the hiring is completed."

"All the political agendas and unkept compensation promises"

"I don't think they would accept any suggestions."

"Meeting new people and signing up new customers. Working by yourself and your income is based on the products you sell."

"Be prepared for long hours."

"Long Hours (14+ per day) and trying to meet new customer goals in a bad economy."

"Be satisfied with the new customer sign ups and not penalize CSM or Depot Managers for the bad economy and not reaching new goals."

"The customers were great. The job entitled you to make as much money as you wanted to wor for."

"the 17 hr work days."

"The express family values but manage completely different, they act as everyone is replaceable and express that in all messages by threats. Many federal laws are broke daily"

"This company will take all you give and then still want more so you will have to make a choice and many have in what will you put up with. To do the job as they beleive they pay for you should plan to work or be threatened to work 6 16 hour days per week"

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"The pay is pitiful for a demanding 16+ hour work day, no ethics or adhearence for federal law but the threatening to its employees is above the normal all for thier bonuses. They cut the field bonuses and brag on profit they have accumulated and believe they will not be sued because they have more money"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Place themselves in the employees shoes and actually try to be fair of what they ask and if they would be willing to work in such horrible working conditions for the miserable money they pay. Make a difference a positive impact"

"Applying lean manufacturing best practices and driving continuous improvement with people and processes Effectively managing operations while meeting budgetary goals"

"Good place for a young, single person to work who wants a taste of owning their own business."

"Working with the customers was fantastic. Most people were very happy to see you every other week. The products you sell are excellent and for the convenience it's not cheap but it is reasonable."

"Be yourself because with all the hours you put in dishonesty in the interview process will shine through."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"The hours were terrible. When I worked there 8am-8pm was a normal day. It was also commission only so you were at the mercy of your customer's schedules. I have heard they have switched to base+commission so that has to be an improvement."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The hours have to be cut back. Your staff needs time to have a life of their own. Using holidays as an excuse to reschedule routes is ridiculous."

"Working with the customers was a really neat experience."

"Sell sell sell"

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"The fact that I was the furthest out from my home location, and had to drive in on a Friday night after the route was finished, wait for 4 hours as they reloaded the truck, then drive more than an hour to get the truck back home. The senior management decided it was ok to give me the oldest truck that stalled at every corner even though I would have to drive it in traffic for 2 hours to get it back to the depot, and then drive it back home to plug in."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Give your drivers a flat weekly rate that does not go away."

"At first it was about quality and customers first. Taking care f the employee first but that has ended. It is all threats everyday the CSM to work 6 days to make upper Managers goals with no regards to economy or their lives"

"Make sure you know. It will be five to six 15hour days every week and no support or consideration for you time or family."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"its no a good company by structure. In management their is no security many over ten years have been let go while others doing far worse still are employed. I want to work for a company that values my work not explot it."

"Realize they are going about this kind. Of business in the wrong direction. They need to practice what they preach and not be so hypocritical. They need to let the employees see and feel they care about them not just numbers."

"THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH ARE GREAT, THE CUSTOMERS ARE GREAT. GREAT PRODUCT TO SELL. THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD IS AMAZING."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"THE HOURS. THERE ARE NO PAID HOLIDAYS, YOU HAVE TO MAKE UP THE TIME. I DONT GET HOME TILL AFTER 11PM MOST NIGHTS."

"IN ORDER TO CREATE BALANCE BETWEEN WORK AND HOME LIFE HAVE EMPLOYEES WORK LESS HOURS SO THEY CAN SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY"

"Be very clear as to the hours of operation to be successful."

"The HOURS were very costly to a home / work life balance. New Management."

"The company changed in the 12+ years that I was employed by Schwans. Get back to taking care of your front line employees."
