"Lose the following vocabulary - that is not part of my job description, I don't want to, that deal may not happen. It is a great company as long as you believe that there is always a bigger better aster way to do anything and you never take no for answer."

"The job was very demanding 7 days, 24 hours."

"There needs to be a better way to balance the work loads. There definelty needs to be some management training and coaching."

"At times the sense of urgency turns to chaos and lowers productivity"

"Don't just implement new processes to streamline productivity, put someone in charge to police the processes and ensure everyone is using it properly"

"Politics, refused a transfer or transfer to another group was held up for an unreasonable amount of time."

"Listen more to requests from employees."

"You will always be at the bleeding edge of Storage Technology. It's a very competitive industry, where advancements from a competitor spark a massive response from everyone else in the field. EMC does pay well once you reach the higher engineering tiers. Entry Level and Tech Support engineers make market rate."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't harp on and on about your advanced degree. EMC values experience in the field. In this current job market, there are a lot of Ph.Ds with no J-O-B."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"The long hours will grind down the unprepared or the unwilling. At the senior engineer level, you will be expected to design and implement the solution while acting as de facto manager for your Implementation Team. Expect 60+ hour work weeks."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Retain talent! Don't be so demanding of your best technical staff. We've lost too many good Project Managers and Engineers to NetApp and HitachI because of the pressure. Let's be a bit more flexible when it comes to balancing Life and Work."

"Pay was good. There was a lot of variety in day to day work"

"EMC cut the contributions to the 410k program. They took away the monthly car benefit"

"get over yourselves....listen to your employees and listen to your customers and you might get a clue as to why the stock price hasnt moved since 2003"
