"Be aware that the ladder has different-shaped rungs; excelling at something won't necessarily mean you'll excel at the next thing; the required skill are often totally unrelated to each other."

"Work doesn't translate to anything but my job, retail during the holidays is like going to war."

"Try to pay full-timers higher-wages and use more of them. Part-time staff are nice and all, but they should be a supplemental resource, not the backbone of the work force."

"The pay is very low compared to what the company expects from you in return. Communication between managers and booksellers is a joke. Advancement opportunities are few and far between and once you are promoted to management you will never be able to have a life because the shifts are never the same."

"I would pay my employees a livable wage, stop flip-flopping on store operating policies and make sure that store management communicated."

"Most of the management team treats the employees as if they don't know what they are doing."

"Stop repeating the same things everyday and let the employees do their work without constant criticism and shoulder-watching."

"Nothing, overworked and underpaid. Managers don't care about you. All they care about is you getting their job done plus yours as well."

"Was promised manager position while applying been the 2 years, and nothing!"

"Not enough employees, so we have to work twice as hard."

"I would plan each day ahead so I won't be overwhelmed every day."
