"I've worked for Red Cross for 7 years in a couple different roles, and although we have the same problems many nonprofits have (too much work and not enough staff), we have an amazing group of staffers on the chapter side who really care about the mission and know what they're doing. Our local CEO is great, and I am a supporter of our national CEO as well. The blood services side is undergoing crazy changes, though -- I wouldn't recommend applying to any jobs on that side until at least 2017."

Working at American Red Cross in Long Beach, CA: 2 Employee Reviews

Administrative Assistant

What do you like about working at American Red Cross?

"It was a very fast paced environment for Disaster Response."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be mindful, and ask A LOT of questions. If there is something you have the slightest question about, ask before you accept the job. Be sure to see if the job/position has SUNRISE and SUNSET Dates, or other funding restrictions. You may be back in the market sooner than you could believe due to these."

What don't you like about working at American Red Cross?

"Mandatory donations out of your own pocket for other organizations affiliated with A.R.C. They make you think you have a choice, but when you don't donate you get a call from HR letting you know that you MUST donate or they will choose an amount for you and deduct it from your next check."

Logistics Agent

"It was a great experience working in disaster relief."
