Working at ZombieRunner in Palo Alto, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

ZombieRunner Employee

"I started working at ZombieRunner in January 2017. At first I was super excited to make a positive impact on a small business, but within 2 weeks of working there, my enthusiasm was completely killed. The owners are very possessive and controlling of their store. There is very little freedom and trust given to the employees. The co-owners are micromanagers and are very poor communicators. They do not handle conflict well. I had one of the co-owners aggressively threaten to reduce my hours for being 5 minutes late one morning. There is no good employee space or break room separate from the co-owners. There is also no room for growth. The extent of jobs offered are barista and store cashier. I was actually hired for a more behind-the-scenes inventory and business-related role, but I am basically working 30 out of 36 hours working retail. I would have never taken the job if I knew I was signing up for a retail sales job. One of the co-owners, who I unfortunately report to, can be very passive aggressive, rude, snide, and cold. One employee who has worked here the longest has told me quitting stories of former employees, all of whom quit out of anger and frustration. When customers call with questions about products sold in the store, she tends to mutter sarcastic comments mocking the customers while they are waiting on hold. This workplace is super negative and toxic. It is taking a toll on my mental health and happiness, and I'm looking for a way out pronto. Avoid this place like the plague. They do not deserve good labor or success in their business."
