Senior Product Development Manager

"Over the last 5 years, Ziplocal has become a less interesting place to work due to the nature of the ebb and flows of the venture capital world. The opportunities for advancement are limited."

Senior Product Development Manager

"Ziplocal is a great place to work. The environment is homogeneously Mormon, the work is less competitive and so are the salaries. Five years ago, it was a leader in digital technology and innovation, hiring top talent from across the country. Through different rounds of venture funding by Goldman Sachs, the company has changed its business initiatives and in some ways has lost its core identity."

"I worked for Ziplocal for about two years. They had the right mix of project supervision and allowing me some creative space to use what I know to serve their needs. This company employs several hundred employees all over the U.S. and Canada, including sales, accounting, account management, and customer service positions."

Media Consultant

"I worked at Ziplocal as a media consultant for over three years in the Washington DC metro area. The company has major issues such as: print yellow page product revenue is in major decline, digital products are high priced and reps are paid commission when the client pay, digital products have extreme competition especially since the company is late in game offering the products. Company is starting to micro manage the sales force on a daily basis. Also the iPads that the reps are given can track the reps location on a daily basis. Company is quick to put a new rep on a performance program and does not offer much help in getting the rep off the plan, so you are kind of on your own."

Media Consultant

"I was a media sales consultant for over three years with the company in the metro Washington/ Baltimore area The company has multiple issues that need to be resolved. Print yellow page product is declining in revenue. Print yellow page distribution being reduced by company, but the clients are not being told about it. Company's online products Web Page, Social Media and SEO products are very nice but very expensive in compared to the competition. Salary for the position is below average for the area - I got $27,000 plus Commission. Company is quick to place people on performance programs with little time to improve before elevating to final warning. Company is requiring daily activity to be recorded in Salesforce for management review. Also, the iPads that you are given has tracking software so that company can track your whereabouts on a daily basis. You will be expected to be on a daily call at 8am and also at 5pm for about 15 minutes to go over your day."
