"A company with underutilized potential."
What do you like about working at Zachry Holdings?
"The pay was actually pretty good and the benefits are some of the best I've ever had in my career. Your fellow workers, for the most part, are characters that make the workplace exceptional. It is very interesting watching the growth of a construction site and seeing the great work the company does with in the community. They have an excellent community volunteer program."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Office jobs are hard to come by, you have to apply at the job site's human resource office if you do not already work for the company and are transferring. Though the work can be very detailed, all jobs can be mastered with your willingness to work hard and pay attention to the details."
What don't you like about working at Zachry Holdings?
"Upper management tends to micro-manage the workers. The clerk work is often monotonous and the work day is very long. Office personal is there to support the job site, and the field workers will work a 10+ hour work day. Finally, safety (at least on our site) was a bit of an afterthought; reactive rather than proactive."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Give your people a job to do and have a little faith that they can do it well. If you feel the need to micro-manage your people they are not the people for the job. Focus a little more on accident prevention rather than covering or blaming and making excuses after an accident occurs."
