"The mission of the organization is great. In reality, the management of the organization is awful."

"Do not work for Communications or Contract Services if you have an ounce of ambition."
What don't you like about working at National Renewable Energy Laboratory?
"The work is meaningful. However, the management were not leaders. They were threatened by, and did not value, good work. Management is completely politically motivated and rewarded buddy's over workers. Nepotism runs rampant along with favoritism."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Direct management was patronizing, arrogant and micromanaging without the knowledge to do so."

"I will be laid off in June because of budgetary restrictions."
What do you like about working at Northrop Grumman?
"Flexible hours, since my job was downsized in April 2011 to half time. I can work at home, too."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Always recognize that the defense industry is as solid as the economy and federal budget are, so prepare for the hard times and enjoy the good ones."
What don't you like about working at Northrop Grumman?
"Facing my pending layoff in June, naturally. It requires several adjustments. But I won't miss the twice-weekly 190-mile round trip commute between Seal Beach (where I live) and San Diego!"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Our division was constantly reinventing itself as the economy would fluctuate. That is a necessary evil, but there should be enough constants in the workplace to maintain its integrity. I am facing layoff in June. I had one supervisor comment in a group meeting that the layoffs will get the division down to fighting weight. For 10 years, I always thought we could fight pretty well, but I'm not management."

"Challenging extreme job with high visibility in a very important mission area."

"Believe in the military mission of patriotic service and the military will welcome you into the community."

"Traffic was troublesome at times but I normally got to work early and left late to avoid traffic"

"Make sure each employee has an appropriate role, with a conducive environment, and with great development opportunities."

"Flexibility and variety of work for new and existing clients."

"Prospecting for clients. I thrive on the creative aspect, whereas the business acquisition side is not as enjoyable."

"Be prepared to write well and write often without supervision."

"I wish the pay was calculated differently. That said, going in I knew this is a content company, meaning they pay per the view. The more views of my articles equates to the more pay I receive."

"Respond to emails and questions from writers in a more timely manner."

"clients are too demanding. the hours can be ridiculous. I don't really like what I'm writing"

"reduce the 24/7 expectation of the office. improve work life balance. seek out different clients"

"Helping others solve their technical difficulties using my suggestions and instructions."

"Be prepared to wade through an absolutely staggering number of potential topics, many of which are not for the feint of heart. Do not expect to be paid well. Be especially conscientious regarding adherence to a multitude of style guides."

"The pool of topics is often so esoteric and specific that the amount of research required to construct an adequate article would not be sufficiently compensated for."

"Provide remuneration that acknowledges the difficulty of composing the article."
