"Lots of Nepotism, Favoritism; Mgmt was Abusive"

What do you like about working at Wingspan Portfolio Advisors?

"I liked the location of the company. It was off the bus line."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"No. I would say don't work for this company unless you are desperate and need a job right away."

What don't you like about working at Wingspan Portfolio Advisors?

"There was a lot of Nepotism and Favoritism at the company. Most of managment was either related or hung out after work. Very young management other than the owner. People were promoted based on who they were and not what they knew. I felt the company discriminated against blacks. The blacks were all hired through temp agencies and were required to have years of experience and education in mortgage and realestate. However, the company worked these people harder than they worked their white counterparts. The whites came in making more money with less education and experience. They were also making them permanent. I saw a lot of manager abuse. One manager, the Director of Development, referred to the blacks as roaches. The HR was one person who would not promote you based off of your experience or credentials but they would walk to your managers office and get his permission on who to promote. So a lot of people who were the personal friends of the manager were getting promoted and getting better pay over their more qualified, minority coworkers. There was a lot of nepotism and favoritism as well. I had it when my manager would come to me and ask me to lie to Bank of America customers about loan documents. This was against my morals. We were told to inform Bank of America customers we had their signed loan origination documents even though we did not. We were all informed they were offsite somewhere so when responding to a lawyer's inquiry or a customer we just lied if we saw a signed copy of the loan documents in the system. I did not like this practice. It was dishonest. Also management would often give bad advice and info and hide their hands when this resulted in errors.HR was vindictive. As I stated they were all family or very tight. If a manager did not like you, you could never ever use Wingspan on your resume, nomatter how good of an employee you were. They would intentionally mess up your next job opportunity.WIngspan Portfolio Advisors was not a good company to work for. It was one of the worst."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Replace the entire management staff. It will eventually ruin the company."
