"Start-up spirit, creative group of engineers, beautiful corporate campus right on the water, lots of freedom."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"HR staff are very warm and friendly which can be misleading if you are a people-person. Ask about challenges in the department you are interviewing for & how long the department lead has been with the firm."

What don't you like about working at Wind River?

"Huge campus with very small staff so strong feeling of disconnectedness. Small work groups managing enormous workloads so no sense of a larger community. Very separatist vibe between departments."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop the turn over! Too many people coming and going with no sense of history or continuity, too much change. Old-timers are snobbish; senior management doesn't get along; new comers find it hard to invest in or develop loyalty for an organization that has no heart."

"Be prepared to talk to a lot of different people who have different views of the position."

"Sometimes the internal process was a bit cumbersome, but there was always a way to overcome that."

"Don't invest so much in the future of linux as a product and service."

"Like any large company, it has its ups and downs. Overall, the Linux group was a good one."

"Often wished I had an office to come into. Lack of face time."

"nothing specific - be prepare to answer questions and pass along long corridors to the next office"

"dog flees in the spring time - great people can have dogs in the office"

"A lot of formalities and 'paperwork' like at least 500 emails per day"

"I have worked in Wind River since 2010. It is a company with strong technology background. As a leader in embedded OS field, it invented things that is widely used. It also provides employer chances to learn and improve."

"I had two stints with WRS so I obviously didn't find the company or environment disagreeable, and would consider joining again if the right position were available in a local office. My peers, managers, and the technical resources available to me were always first rate. The downside for me personally, was that the company is big, bureaucratic, and in general, one will not have many opportunities to move up within the company."

"I worked for Wind River from 2005 until 2012, it's a great place to work and grow your career. I had various roles in the 7+ years I was there, everything from tools development, to lab maintenance, project management and release engineering. Wind River rewards hard work with industry standard raises, bonuses, and promotions. But most importantly they have great people who are a pleasure to work with!"
