What do you like about working at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary?
"Helping families and individuals pre-plan thier funeral arrangements and secure cemetery property both in advance and at the time of need is what I do and enjoy. I feel I was born to serve and enjoy this aspect of working for this company. However, working in this industry has it has its downside, helping families during the most emotional and vulnerable time of their lives. Establishing trust is first and foremost. I strive to meet their needs and create a memorable experience, at the same time trying to carefully avoid the pitfalls of allowing one to overspend while under the influence of grief. Overall working for this company has been rewarding in many ways."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"This company is a very reputable company to work for and there is opportunity to succeed and have a good income. However, the position is not for the average person, it requires a kind , extremely patient and very compassionate person to manage families (customers) experiencing emotional grief on a daily basis."
What don't you like about working at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary?
"There are times when I get emotionally involved with some families. I tend to empathize with their grief while trying to serve them. Although I work well under pressure, and I very rarely ever stress, my current position requires this kind of atmosphere on a daily basis. Also, the dynamics of the department are such that there is an over abundance of administrative work required which restricts opportunity for sales. The pay structure is convoluted and the incentives are not consistent. There are three separate sales units within the same location competing for the same customers and often one unit is permitted to offer price incentives that other groups cannot.or are not made aware of."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"My suggestion would be that the unit managers collaborate with one another to establish consistency between the sales units regarding price incentives. Also, to add a clerical assistant to the Family Service department to help make more time available for sales opportunities."
