"WGU is a fine place to work, with pretty good benefits to compensate for low pay. Working from home is a good experience, however, and more than makes up for the pay issue. Most people who are not already retired have to work a second job, but I don't, so it's lucky that our family has other sources of income."

What do you like about working at Western Governors University?

"I work from home and can choose when I work my 45 to 60 hours per week for my 40 hours worth of pay."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you have no life and are confined to you home and love being micromanaged, you could have no better job than mine. If it was any worse I would quit. The only thing that keeps me is the flexibility of when I put in my 45 to 60 hours and the satisfaction of serving my students and helping them work towards graduation."

What don't you like about working at Western Governors University?

"Poor Management. Micromanagement. No concern for personal life / work balance. The general expectation that faculty has no life demands on their time and that they can work 60 hour weeks from time to time and sometimes more at the whim of management."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Learn to forecast. Respect what the employee handbook says that 40 hours is a full time work week. Yes Salary means some times less and sometimes more. It should not always mean 45+ and often much more."
