"I've been unhappy since my first day on the job."
What do you like about working at Washington County Public Schools?
"Educating children is a very rewarding experience like nothing else. It offers daily challenges with discipline issues and loads of paperwork. The great part is when, in spite of the heavy workload, I see the light bulb come on for a child or when a child starts to become confident in areas that he previously felt doubtful."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Prepare for an environment that doesn't put a lot of emphasis on structure. I'm not saying there isn't any structure. There are just regular last minute changes to daily schedules that may or may not be well planned."
What don't you like about working at Washington County Public Schools?
"I have been promised on several occasions that, in my efforts to improve standardized test results that I need only to ask for help and I would get it. This has only been partially true. The obvious issues are ignored while more emphasis is placed on irrelevant issues."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Show more support for the teachers and try to create a positive work environment for everyone. Positive minds are much more productive."
