Daily duties include coordinating off-loading of inventory, making damage inspections, organizing shelving for stock and tracking quantities through advanced computerized database systems. Warehouse associate jobs are available seasonally and as full-time employment with possible flexibility for various shifts.
Skillset: Warehouse associates may need to be in good physical condition with an understanding of best safety practices for manual tasks. In many cases, they will need to have knowledge of tracking systems either at designated workstations or with handheld electronic equipment. Heavy equipment operation may require a specialty license or certification. Some basic mechanical expertise for minor equipment repairs can be helpful.
Education: Many warehouse associates will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Vocational courses are an advantage, but rarely will a warehouse associate need to have a college degree for employment.
Career Path: Warehouse associates can begin their career at an entry level, but it will be helpful to have some knowledge of inventory control systems. Dock off-loading and staging experience will be useful. Background checks should produce a clean driving record and personal history.
