VP of Sales at Cobham

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"I did not work for Cobham defense. Not sure where it is deriving this from. I last worked for RESON, Inc."

What do you like about working at Cobham?

"Again, all answers relate to RESON, Inc. Not Cobham defense. US offices had good personnel, and we all worked well together. Expertise and industry history was good. Client relationships were strong and I enjoyed building on those and expanding relationships within major accounts."

What don't you like about working at Cobham?

"Parent company was in Denmark and a major cultural rift existed because of the company's origins (three brothers, who then sold to a Danish equity group). The parent company was determined to decimate the satellite offices and was highly un-supportive of the offices, primarily because the satellites actually held the key expertise. As a result, a defense posture was maintained that tried to downplay all non-corporate offices."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Always empower offices and individuals and trust in your key management personnel. Take pro-active approaches to solutions as opposed to defense posturing, trying to make it into a local power-play to take over control. (Sorry to say, but the level of political jockeying was this bad and directly affected me and others in senior management.)"

"Frank Redmond has a reputation that is beyond reproach. I enjoyed my time with Frank and respect him."

VP of Sales at Alexander Manufacturing

What do you like about working at Alexander Manufacturing?

"The customers I called on."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This company has had and will continue to be stuck in a self destructible cycle. The game of finger pointing, sneakiness and dishonesty is immaturely the example portrayed by top leadership and unfortunately not seen by ownership. This affects a new employee due to the fact that for growth one should seek to be lifted up by their superiors. The model here pushes employees down making for an unhappy work life due to motivation not only being absent but even worse... not understood by top leaders to the point that it is actually frowned upon."

What don't you like about working at Alexander Manufacturing?

"The president is not a leader and takes no steps to learn to be a leader. A simple read of any John Maxwell book would be suggested and used to compare the ways in which this company chooses to lead and direct. Bottom line... severe leadership inabilities at the very top handicap the company from giving professional growth and direction to any other employee. Positives are frowned upon and negativity is a disease that has unfortunately become prevalent throughout."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take a strong look at leadership roles and grade them against the qualities that are recommended by leadership greats. Clear, positive and motivational communication is a must. Examples of this should be lived and demonstrated daily from the top down."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If someone is going in to have a straight salary and leave at 5 pm, this is a good job. My day in a company never ends."

What don't you like about working at Quintess?

"The deal that was structured for me had stock options that never panned out in the agreed fashion. I decided at the time that my integrity was worth more than the job. Too bad it never worked out."
