"It was an incredible experience being surrounded by some of the world's greatest pieces of art, and the view from the top of the museum is the best view you can find in LA."

"Waking up on Saturdays to work for free was kind of tough."

"No suggestions - they are doing everything right, and I am truly glad I committed my time there."

"I wouldn't because it's generally for volunteers so you don't usually go through an interview process."

"I greatly disliked the people I was working with. Some of them were former criminals and they all lacked any real ambition or substance."

"I would make things more organized, and make the work environment more positive. I would also have meetings to discuss innovative new ideas."

"I would have preferred to have been able to get paid for the work, but overall there were not a lot of complaints."

"They should have hired more people. Even for a non profit, they needed more people to do that amount of work rather than relying on volunteers."

"it was late hours, sometimes I was there all night and so it got kind of long. But worth it."

"I enjoyed developing projects with coworkers that benefited the local community."

"There isn't a growth ladder within Peace Corps, a volunteer has the same standing as any other for the whole time served."

"Low financial resources hindered or halted many projects. It is volunteer work so you're not getting paid for what you're doing. Living back in the states, I need a decent salary to get by."

"I would utilize the advice of current and former volunteers more regarding site and project development."

"I did not like that people came in and me being 18 at the time old customers were hitting on us."

"I suggest to keep an eye on customers who are older because they hit on younger people in the company."

"The United States Peace Corps is a remarkable service organization that has given me the opportunity to serve my country abroad as well as learn a second language and observe international engineering techniques."

"The Peace Corps program elicits a lot of different ideas from people in the United States about what it is and what volunteers do. An open mind, extreme patience and flexibility, and an indomitable positive attitude are essential for prospective volunteers."
What don't you like about working at Peace Corps?
"There are often frustrations and interesting cultural 'road-blocks' to completing projects here in Mexico. Challenges inherent in communicating in a second language and balancing different working cultures have forced me to exercise more patience as I run up against delays, communication gaps and differences in safety standards for construction and design."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would suggest that the management of the Peace Corps organization continue paying close attention to the needs and requests of their host country agencies. My role as a volunteer serving in the office of a natural protected environmental area has been very productive and successful because the agency specifically request my skill-set in a volunteer and my counterparts are eager to learn about engineering techniques from the U.S."
