"The camaraderie amongst peers was great."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are looking for something very temporary to get you through a couple of months then it might be worth your time. Don't be enticed by the quick offer or compensation plan, it is misleading and frankly you will NEVER see what they say. If you take the job, continue interviewing elsewhere."

What don't you like about working at VinaKom?

"The management knows only one way to manage: by fear. The constant threats of being fired were absolutely demotivating and caused widespread apathy in the sales team. The direct manager of the sales team in completely inept and petty. In my personal experience I upset him when I voiced my opinion about an egregious error to a higher up, and was rewarded with him not speaking to me for 6 weeks. Childish, unprofessional, unfathomable, and several other words come to mind. As for the higher ups, they crack the whip and are at times abrasive and shady, but are generally knowledgeable and can help you succeed. That is if they choose to. They are very aware that they run a turn-and-burn shop, and often don't have the desire to help anyone. All that being said, the two higher ups are great guys to talk to or even have a beer with, but are generally difficult to work with. The sales manager on the other hand is completely detrimental to the office, actively chooses not to get along with other members of the office, and is, quite unfortunately, well entrenched in that role."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Remove the sales manager immediately. Find better motivational techniques than threats. And the biggest, put your faith in the people you see who have the potential to succeed. Nurture them instead of drive them away, and I guarantee you will be better of than having a revolving door."
