"I started my career out as an apprentice stone & marble Mason, for the David Hummel Building Company in 1975! I worked for the company until 2010. The Hummel family had no more family members left who wanted to run the company so the business was sold....my position as "Company Superintendent" was eliminated. I had plans to Retire/ work for the rest of my life with this family-owned company! Western Restoration a large nationally known company, heard that Hummel was sold & I was not working for them any longer. I was beginning to start my present company at the time when they called to recruit me to be their Cincinnati Company Superintendent. This branch was one of their smaller branches of the 39 cities they were operating in & they were restructuring upper management. After working for a family-owned, 155-year-old company for 35 years...this Branch was so disorganized, the 3 employees that I worked with in management, Branch Manager, Restoration Estimator did not show up to the office to work. They chose to work from home and would call in to report that ! I could that this approach would office moral & the jobs were not coming in on a regular basis...field employees that they had were leaving & now I could not recruit new talent ! The national office eventually closed the Cincinnati Branch ! I started my current company V.M.S & have operated it from 2012 to the present ! I am a go-getting worker, I have worked on the most "Iconic Cincinnati" buildings....worked from an Apprentice to a master stone & marble mason, a master carver, a Forman on some of the largest buildings in the surrounding Area, then promoted to a Company Superintendent only answering to the Owner ! What a career ! Thank you ."
