"Ask what you will be doing, and know what you want to be doing. I was using statistics of language to improve symbolic grammar and spelling rules. The statistics is good, the symbolic rules were bad. So, ask specifically what you'll be doing...."

"The technology they use is *very* outdated, they inherited it and don't understand it, and have not hired people who do (or grasp the trouble they are will be if they continue with the technology)."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Don't chase the fast buck. It is not enough to improve the product by .03% because in the end the method being used is outmoded and has been demonstrated to be unmaintainable (see lots of papers about size of symbolic grammars)."
