"Be careful who your boss may be because that really makes a difference in the close quarters of a lab."

What don't you like about working at University of Southern California?

"I do not like my boss. She is forgetful, changes her mind on a daily basis, rushes things, and is generally not a nice person."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It would be nice to have notice for upcoming experiments, and not to be given a timeline where rushing could affect important results. Also the pay is very poor for the amount of work and expectations."

"The research environment is great for students. There are various studies to work on and to apply my knowledge gained in classes. My supervisors are very nice people. They stimulated a lot of my research enthusiasms."

"USC is definitely a top graduate school to study and work. The department of preventive medicine is one of the best in US."

What don't you like about working at University of Southern California?

"The main reason to leave the school is that I will graduate next year. Besides, I am looking for more opportunities to work in a new environment for different studies, and new research ideas."

"I hope the funding support for graduate students can be increased so that students can focus more on their research projects."

"The dynamic nature of the day to day work. The constant change, the students and the intellectual nature of our programs."

"The school is really important, as the schools tend to be their own entities within the university - very silo'd. So - check out your team - will they support change? Will they be great to work with? Moving around can be difficult - depending on the school."

What don't you like about working at University of Southern California?

"While my supervisor is fantastic, the system works against the team and we constantly have to work around things to get anything done. Everything costs an arm and a leg."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Value staff and students more. Give faculty more support staff. Do away with the strict hierarchy of power. More collaboration between departments. Written policies and procedures. Stronger leaders."
