"Upwork is worst freelancing space for freelancers. They suspend account without any reason. Freelancers put lot of efforts to build a profile over there. Spend nights, do $500 in $50 to get good ratings and build profile. After all the hard efforts, time and money, they close your account without even giving a reason. Their customer support is too bad that they don't know which team to refer my query or call. I would say Upwork is highly reliable for freelancers to work. They charge 20% straight from freelancers. An additional 3% for the payments and freelancers have to buy the connects again in more than $10 to apply for the jobs. I highly not recommend to work on Upwork as its is reliable, loot so much money from freelancers and in response provide nothing to freelancers and suspend accounts."

Freelance Engineer

"Working for UPWORK as an entry level Mechanical Engineer was good in that It provided me some experience and an interesting challenge. However it is very difficult to compete with other users of the site without having a higher experience level as you can easily get underbid without any background to win the client over with."

Upwork Employee

"Upwork is a very driven company, and they are not shy in letting you know which direction the company is headed in. There is a lot of potential for employees, and there is a sense of building better work lives for freelancers. Management is under a lot of pressure when it comes to driving revenue, which can negatively impact the effectiveness of the sales team. Building client relationships and being strategic is more important than aggressive sales metrics, which is why in my experience a number of companies banned us from prospecting business from their executive teams."
