"The pay should be adjusted to fairly compensate the amount of work that is expected of the ice operations staff. The pay rates for ice operations staff are low compared to the average pay for this type of work and pay raises at this facility are typically minimal and infrequent. Many employees will quit after a short time upon realizing this. The guidance and instruction from supervisors can be very unclear and disorganized at times which creates confusion and toxicity. There is not much incentive to work harder or move up in the company if you take a part time job specifically in the ice operations crew. The work environment is usually satisfactory and casual however it can be very hectic for larger events, which the facility hosts somewhat frequently. Although the starting pay for part time employees is very low, working in the ice operations staff part-time can be a decent job for high-school students, someone who has recently been laid off, or if you are looking for a part-time weekend job and enjoy working in a hockey environment."
