"Stand up for those you manage, your own families as well. More is not always better. Become the solution for your workers. Training is truly poor quality."

"Small town, I love Wyoming."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Schmooze the family. And ALWAYS keep looking for other options and companies. Since I left they continue to have difficulty getting and keeping good people. (Many of the people who stay aren't the best and probably don't have many other options.)"

What don't you like about working at Union Telephone?

"Sooooo much! Family run company, family gets the majority of the perks and opportunity.MUCH family politics. MUCH empire building throughout management, even outside the family. ZERO opportunity for advancement unless you have the right last name, etc."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"OPEN YOUR EYES!! There's a LOT of talent in and around your company GOING TO WASTE because you won't consider the potential of anyone who isn't in (or doesn't marry into) your family. Run it like a company instead of like an extended family retirement plan."
