"The University is in general a pleasent place to work, however, the culture of each research group is very different. I would advise people to get as much information as possible on the PI."

"The PI and research group I worked with- micromanages everything and looses sight of what is important and priority."

"Serious management training needed. Better control of PIs...understand that a University is a public institution and not their private Biotech company!"

"Don't just work here for the benefits, many employees consider UCSC the place where careers come to die. Every difficult to move out as private sector employers see UC workers as inferior."

"Extremely low pay, uninviting atmosphere, budget cuts/layoffs, uninspired to work to my potential everyday"

"Make something actually happen, try to motivate the employees to 'try' in their jobs"

"Needs more interaction among employees. As a team , the team members should be allowed to bring their ideas."

"Extremely high expectations for low pay. NO respect for lower level staff, we're there to get bullied. Staff and resources were cut, but the student pop. has increased significantly, increasing the workload. Staff are all working at least 3 jobs. No promotions. Impossible to get more than a mediocre performance review, which is only discouraging."
"Good job, but under paid. Wish they offered a transition option for students employees who wish to stay on after graduation."
