"It might be a specific problem to this region but it could be an agency issue; however, they hire you as a part time "variable shift" employee but expect you to work more hours than your initial 20. This isn't an issue if you want that, but you're never guaranteed more than 20 hours. They can also change your schedule at any given time, even if it's not the schedule you bid for based on seniority."

"Overall the working environment is good. Co-workers are friendly and trustworthy, they also like to have fun when not on the work floor. Management is a bit messy overall but individual supervisors are work with you as long as you don't mess up really bad."

"This is not a bad place to work if you are at a large airport, but at a small airport, the only option is to work part-time. The hours that you work are constantly changing. For a part-time employee, if you decide to take the insurance, your salary will barely cover the cost of the insurance, and you only get paid holidays if you work on the holiday."

"I have worked for the Transportation Security Administration for almost 5 years. The job itself is easy. It does get overwhelming at times given the fact that we are searching for bombs guns and explosives. The hardest part of the job was rude passengers. As a Lead officer, I was the one that was called to diffuse any situation on the floor. Best part of the job was the comradely with the other officers. Great federal job that opened doors to other agencies if interested."

"I worked for the Transportation Security Administration for 11 and a half years. Despite the negative feedback, I found it to be an interesting, rewarding career. They employ around 40,000 individuals around the world."

"I worked for TSA for 2 years. The agency is working to improve upon itself every day. Some changes in management would be beneficial to improving overall workforce morale."

"TSA varies depending on location. At LAX, it is run like a sweat shop in the training department. Other departments are more laid back. I do like that the work at TSA is constantly changing and providing new opportunities."
