"TravelCenters of America is a great place to begin a project management career. They are establishing what the gold standard should be and are working on maintaining it. The workload is sometimes a bit rushed, but that's all in the game of project management. Overall I enjoy the workload and working with many of my coworkers. Where they can improve is in the management team. Several members of the management team use the micro-management style where, at times, it can become overbearing and create a stressful work environment. There also seems to be a "do as I say, not as I do" mentality which creates frustration within the team."

"I sent no more than 8 informative documents to this company relaying unsafe and unethical practices and my suggestions. On April 8th I sent an email relaying the previous weeks happenings and a PDF document that supported an ethics complaint. The company must be untruthful in having a "Whistleblower" system as I was reprimanded by local management for using such where they stated "[the information you provide] just comes to us anyway." Management will then start down a path of immense stress and orchestrate ways in which to ostracize you and vilify you. On April 16th I came to work at 11AM. My manager came out at 11:10AM and said I need to speak with you" In his office was a man from HR on the phone who I had never communicated with via email. He stated that he was conveying the message from those that I had used such means to convey my concerns. He said "you have sent emails." (I responded in the affirmative). He then said "because of the volume of your complaints and our inability to satisy you we are cutting ties." He then said that I would be getting my check in "72 hours" completely ignoring state law on receiving payment when terminated. He also hung up the phone when I said that actually I was satisfied as I was continuing to work and had just started my 401k. The fact that this company terminated me on the day where I was beginning my retirement fund shows you the vindictiveness and cruelty. While my manager seemed dismayed and said "I had nothing to do with this" it continues in the overall practice of this company to perceive Cashiers as incapable and of low worth where your suggestions will be met with termination. The things I complained about: Unethical Pay differential where departments like the employees in the Bar are paid 2.00 more per hour during the graveyard shift, while employees in the Travel Center working the graveyard shift are not given any such differential. Company enabling solicitors and vagrants and not being able to different"

"When I first started, the company atmosphere was amazing. You were given all of the tools to do your job effectively, and because we had proprietary software, we had to test code, which was fun. The help desk is moving towards script. They are taking the thinking element away from the position. I like to be challenged."

"Nothing to say at this point, since I no longer work there, when I did it was a franchise and it was the best job I've ever had, then when corporate took over position was no longer available."
